GOLF OUTING FUND RAISER

On June 20, the Outreach Division of NCC sponsored a scramble golf tournament at Timbergate Golf Course.

The purpose was to secure monies for our ongoing support of activities in the hometown of one of our members, Joshua Kiilu. Joshua is a native of Machakos, Kenya. The main project we are involved with is the construction of a multipurpose building which will serve as a worship center, a school and a community center. Our congregation has sent groups in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Each visit has been more than assistance in the construction of the building. There have been medical clinics put on by Dr. David Hamilton, Dr. Sheryl Elston, Dr. Katrina McGillivray, the sharing of school supplies sent with each group, and significant bonding between the visitors and the community. Another trip is planned for 2013. These trips are supported by members, friends and fund raisers. While there were only 13 golfers, we did well financially. In addition to entry fees, we had several ‘hole sponsors’. We were assisted in organizing the outing by Jerry Purdy, a friend of Neal Whitson.
